Bell & Ross is internationally renowned and revered for its distinctive timepieces and has become the world’s benchmark for professional aviation watches, despite how new the brand is to the industry.
Starting life as a university project from two lifelong friends, Bruno Belamich (Bell) and Carlos Rosillo (Ross), in 1992, Bell & Ross was founded on the shared vision of producing timepieces that were both functional and durable. Their simple idea was described as ‘function shapes form’ and with that, they managed to change the world of horology as we know it forever.
The French brand drew a lot of influence from the history or aviation and the military specifications and technological advances that have come along with it throughout the years. As a result of this, every timepiece that Bell & Ross produces is made to both the highest visual and performance qualities.
Bell & Ross proceeded with this philosophy in mind and their early models, such as the Space 1 (which was actually the first automatic chronometer to be worn on a space mission) and the Bomb Disposal Type (which was a piece of wrist armour designed to make defusing explosives much easier) grabbed the attention of watch enthusiasts across the world.
The watchmaker set out to not only make timepieces that look good but could also be used as a tool that would be a constant ally to its user in order to assist professionals in industries where they must withstand extreme temperatures, undergo violent acceleration or resist dangerous changes in pressure. To make this a reality, Bell & Ross enlisted the help of pilots, divers, bomb disposal experts and astronauts to develop their timepieces to function optimally in all of the conditions they possibly undergo.
Additionally, to meet the expectations of its intended users, Bell & Ross assembled a team of experts that had skill sets that complimented each other. Designers, engineers and master watchmakers were all brought together by the company to be guided by a single utilitarian and ergonomic style motto: never let the essential be compromised by the superfluous.
As a result of its extensive research and meticulously planned building process, Bell & Ross has managed to build an impressive reputation for functionality, precision, water-resistance and legibility. Today, they are the official supplier to the Space Lab Mission, The French Air Force, The Lafayette Escadrille and many other professional agencies that work in extreme conditions.
